The Construction Division of the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE) and the Construction Research Council (CRC) of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) will hold their joint specialty conference as part of the CSCE 2027 Annual Conference.
It runs June 16 to 18, 2027, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Calgary [1].
The conference comes at a time when construction sits at the front of rapid technological change. Generative AI is creating new opportunities and new challenges across planning, design, delivery and operations [2]. The conference is a place to share ideas, evidence and lessons from that change, from both research and practice.
On behalf of Dr. Xinming Li and myself, as co-chairs of the construction specialty conference, I invite submissions from academic researchers and industry practitioners. Submissions can be a full paper, an extended abstract or a case study.
Please submit your abstract, up to 350 words, through the conference website by November 4, 2026.
The conference especially welcomes AI-related work, under any of the conference’s twelve topics [2]:
AI and Autonomous Technologies in Construction
BIM, Digital Twins, XR, IoT, and Digital Construction
Modular, Offsite, and Industrialized Construction
Construction Planning, Management, and Optimization
Project Delivery, Contracting, Procurement, and Legal Issues
Lean Construction, Productivity, and Process Improvement
Construction Safety, Workforce, and Human Factors
Infrastructure and Facilities Asset Management
Infrastructure Resilience and Disaster Risk Management
Sustainable and Low-Carbon Construction
Circular Economy, Resource Efficiency, and Life-Cycle Assessment
Innovative Construction Materials, Methods, Education, and Workforce Development
CRC and the CSCE Construction Division
The Construction Research Council (CRC) is part of the Construction Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). It organizes the Construction Research Congress with the CSCE Construction Division in alternating years, in the United States and Canada. In 2027, it is Canada’s turn, and Calgary’s.
For authors, this means a conference brings the CSCE and ASCE construction communities together in the same room.
